CaddyBytes 🏆 2026 Senior PGA Championship Final Round Recap: Sunday at The Concession Golf Club turned into a championship walk that still required real control from the leader all the way through the back nine. The final round opened with enough movement to suggest there might still be pressure ahead, but Stewart Cink never allowed the tournament to drift far from his hands. By the end of the day, a closing 63 gave him a dominant victory in the 86th Senior PGA Championship and capped one of the strongest performances of the week on the PGA TOUR Champions major stage.

The round had early signs of life from the chasing group. Keith Horne attacked the par-5 seventh with two excellent shots, Steven Alker kept trying to stay within reach, and Ben Crane continued the kind of steady, confident putting that had helped keep him in the mix. There were quality approaches throughout the front nine, including several birdie looks from the contenders, but the real story was that nobody could quite produce the sustained run needed to rattle Cink once the round settled in.

Cink’s final round was built the way experienced major-championship golf so often is: smart positioning, clean iron play, and complete control when the course tried to push back. Even when holes presented awkward yardages or gusting wind, he consistently left the ball in safe sections of greens and trusted the putter from there. He handled the tougher stretch with the calm of a player who understood the tournament was his to manage rather than chase. When birdie chances appeared, he converted enough of them to make the gap feel even wider.

The back nine showed why the week ultimately belonged to him. As others mixed birdies with mistakes or near-misses, Cink kept answering with the kind of controlled golf that closes the door on a field. There were still strong moments around him — a beautifully judged birdie putt here, a crisp wedge there, even one of the best hole-out style moments late in the day from farther down the board — but none of it changed the overall direction of the championship. Every time the door looked as if it might crack open, Cink shut it again.

That ending fit the shape of the full tournament week. The Senior PGA Championship never lacked quality names or quality shots, but by Sunday afternoon it had become clear that this was Cink’s event to finish. The Concession demanded precision all week, especially on approach shots and around difficult green complexes, and the players who stayed patient gave themselves chances. Still, no one matched Cink’s blend of consistency and timely scoring. While several contenders hovered within striking distance early in the final round, the leaderboard never truly flipped into chaos because the leader simply kept playing too well.

So the final image from The Concession was a fitting one: Stewart Cink winning in commanding fashion, posting a brilliant Sunday 63, and adding the Senior PGA Championship to his résumé with authority. It was not a frantic finish decided by late collapse or playoff drama. It was a champion taking control of a major and seeing it through with discipline, sharp iron play, and the kind of steady weekend execution that never gave the field much hope of catching him.
